Speaking at the 75th annual Emmy Awards Stephen Spoke to Nischelle Turner and credited his wife for being with him for more than 30 years.
Stephen revealed about how the appendix busted and how his wife came for his help saying First, appendix. And I was in a lot of pain. It was the last show before we took a break. And I went: ‘I’ll just go do the show anyway. I’m sure we’ll be fine.’ By the time the show was over I had a 102.5 fever. I was in shock. I had blood poisoning,”
Due to this incident and nonserious attitude towards medical conditions, Colbert warned viewers saying Don’t do it, kids. Don’t broadcast with blood poisoning!”
Colbert revealed that his wife got the hint that something was wrong with his health just by hearing his voice, he told the media that he called his wife from the car saying She heard me because by the time I was calling her on the drive home, my teeth were chattering and my whole body was in spasms,” he also said Evelyn instructed the driver to drive him straight to the hospital instead of home.
Evelyn also added she wasn’t the right person to take care of him at that time as Stephen Needed immediate Medical Emergency which can be provided by medical experts only as she had no knowledge of how to handle such pain at home. Saying “I kept saying: ‘What am I gonna do at home with you?’ No, we need a hospital,” she explained. “We need medical care because I can’t take care of that kind of pain.”
