Kenwood High School, a Baltimore County public high school situated in Essex, Maryland, United States, has been under lockdown since Friday due to an ongoing investigation, as reported.
According to the school’s Principal, Carl Armstrong, there were concerns that an individual within the school premises might be carrying a weapon, posing a significant threat. Consequently, a lockdown was initiated around 11:08 a.m.
School security, in collaboration with local law enforcement, swiftly apprehended a suspect during the lockdown. However, no weapon was found during the investigation. Following the removal of the suspect, students and staff were permitted to leave the school premises.
In response to the incident, Principal Carl Armstrong issued a letter to parents and guardians, emphasizing, “Ensuring the safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we are grateful for the swift response of BCoPD and their efforts to keep our school safe.” He also urged vigilance, stating, “As with this case, it is important for all of us – students and parents alike – to inform school staff any time you or your child sees, hears, or reads anything that is suspicious or that may pose a threat to the school or its students.”
The school is working closely with law enforcement to conclude the investigation and ensure the continued safety of everyone within the Kenwood High School community.
