Wednesday Addams’ adventures at Nevermore Academy excited us, and now the second season is on the way.
Wednesday Will Have A Season 2 Of The Netflix Series.
It was obvious from a few days after its premiere. We had reasons and arguments in addition to being one of the best Netflix series in 2022.
The premiere of ‘Wednesday’ was a resounding success on the platform, breaking records and ranking among the most viewed in its history. So, what was Netflix waiting for to renew the series? It was not until early January 2023 that Netflix confirmed the season with an announcement in the form of a teaser.
The series, directed by Tim Burton, has taken us into the classrooms of ‘Never Again’, the school for social misfits in which Jenna Ortega gets into the pale skin of Wednesday Addams. The first season of ‘Wednesday’ has been marked by mysteries. Although the psychic and detective skills of the little Addams have revealed almost all of them, at the end of the eighth and final episode, the door seems open to continuing with her story.
As we pointed out, the numbers support it: ‘Wednesday’ has broken all viewing records on Netflix, even surpassing ‘Stranger Things.’ According to its data, the series accumulated 341.2 million hours of viewing worldwide, leaving behind the 335 million hours of season 4 of ‘Stranger Things.’
In an interview with Empire, co-creators Alfred Gough and Miles Miller have revealed that they are optimistic about the potential future of ‘Wednesday,’ referring to released episodes as the “first” season of the series.
Letting it be known that he and Millar have discussed what might come next, Gough says they are eager to explore the rest of the ‘Addams Family’ universe. “Miles and I are talking to each other about it. There’s definitely a lot more to explore in the Addams’ world with Wednesday Season 2″.
Wednesday Season 2: Premiere Date
Netflix has already announced that there will be season 2. What is less clear is whether Tim Burton would return as director since, in the first season, he has only directed half of the episodes, and his fellow filmmakers Gandja Monteiro and James Marshall could take over (or new names).
Taking these dates into account, it is normal that we will have to wait until 2025 to be able to continue with the adventures of Wednesday Addams on Netflix.
Wednesday Season 2: Synopsis
The possibilities are endless. The logical thing would be to place the plot in a new school year in ‘Never Again,’ following the same structure as the ‘Harry Potter’ films (with which the Netflix series shares many parallels). But it would be spectacular to move the action to the Addams mansion and bring back several of its mythical characters regularly: Uncle Stink, Cousin It, and Grandma.
In an interview with TVLine, the creator talked about the possible story of season 2 and how the protagonist will have to learn to deal with her friendships (and her emotions):
“The show is really about a girl who sees the world in black and white and has to learn that there are also shades of gray. It’s never going to be easy. And it’s really learning to navigate the ups and downs of friendship.”
Wednesday Season 2: Cast
The return of Jenna Ortega is obligatory, like Wednesday Addams. The actress had a giant challenge ahead of her since Christina Ricci’s Wednesday is an icon of popular culture. But Ortega has more than delivered and is the main success of this franchise reboot. Cosa, the severed hand accompanying her everywhere, is the other great interpretation of the series. We mean it. She has to come back no matter what.
Other members of the Family such as Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), Gómez (Luis Guzman), Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez), Largo (George Burcea) and Uncle Fetido (Fred Armisen) should return, as well as Wednesday’s best friends in the ‘Never Again’ Academy, Enid (Emma Myers), Xavier (Percy Hynes White), Bianca (Joy Sunday) and Eugene (Moosa Mostafa).
Those we could rule out, for obvious reasons, are Christina Ricci as Professor Thornhill, Principal Weems (Gwendoline Christie), and Dr. Kinbott (Riki Lindhome). We question Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) because we know if we will resume his story or if he will be left out of the plot.
Wednesday Season 2: Trailer and Images
We will be attentive to any news to update with the first images and the first trailer of the second season of ‘Wednesday’ as soon as they come to light.
